Foamscan - measurement at high temperature with over pressure

– Option HTHP -

Foamscan option HTHP is reinforced to allow measurement at temperature max 120°C and with pressure max 8 bars. Foam is generated in borosilicate glass cell by sparging, gas is injected through a glass frit.

With measurement at low temperature (<80°C), it works like a basic Foamscan.

With measurement at high temperature and over pressure, manometers control input pressure and pressure inside the cell. The sensors measure input pressure and pressure inside the cell. During the measurement, the pressure inside the cell is kept by an automatic control of the electric valve following the measurement of temperature. At the end of the measurement, the cell is cleaned automatically.

Foam image from the video camera is captured by software along with conductance measurements at all the electrodes. All data are used to calculate and plot foam volume and conductance in real time.

Measurements are  automatically controlled by the software. Measurement made by Foamscan HTHP:

Values measured and displayed in real time:
•    Gas flow rate
•    Foam volume
•    Volume of sample liquid remaining
•    Foam conductance at four different foam heights
•    Liquid fraction in the foam at for different foam
•    Pressure inside the cell
•    Temperature inside the cell.

Values calculated in real time and displayed upon completion of the experiment:
•    Volume of liquid trapped in the foam
•    Foam density
•    Bikerman index
•    Volume stability of the foam
•    Liquid stability of the foam
•    Coefficient of expansion of the foam
•    Capacity for foaming
•    Parameter of retention (for the RUDIN test).

Features
•    All instrument operations are controlled by the software which runs under Windows XP or Vista
•    Minimum volume of liquid sample: 60ml
•    Gas flow up to 500 cm3/min
•    Pressure : 8 bars max
•    Maximum temperature 120°C
•    No correction factor.
