Double Jacket Tube

The Double Jacket tube is designed to control temperature measurements. This tube is different from the standard tube. It is available with double walls to allow fluid (from an optional circulating bath) to control temperature of the liquid used to produce foam. Temperature can be controlled up to 90°C.

Different double jacketed tubes

TECLIS proposes two types of double jacketed tube: cylindrical and square measuring tubes.

Both types of tubes are made from optical glass to be sure foam can be measured reproducibly at all levels within the tube. Pairs of conductance electrodes are used to measure conductance of aqueous foams and determine drainage of fluid from foam.

A square measuring tube is available to adapt CSA option to measure cell size distribution, but a cylindrical tube cannot do it.

The Foamscan and Foamspin can use both types of tubes to contain and measure foam stability.

In the Foamscan, the base onto which the tube is fitted contains a frit used in sparging to produce foam.

In the Foamspin, the base onto which the tube is fitted has two chambers.  One chamber contains a stirrer that rotates to produce foam.  The other chamber (onto which the tube is fitted) is connected to the chamber which produces foam.
